BlogPress Application after iOS5 Upgrade

20111014-134954.jpg

Hello, readers. I’m blogging today to ask you for your assistance! I use BlogPress to update this blog on the iPad, but since upgrading my iPad to iOS5, the application only loads the splash screen and then crashes. For my fellow BlogPress users, do you have the same problem?

I was thinking of deleting and reinstalling the application but I’m scared: I have a lot of half-written blog entries in there that I don’t want to lose! If you have any advice about the situation, I’d appreicate your comments. I’ve restarted my iPad but there was no effect.

Thank you!

    Dear,
I experienced the same problem, blogpress crashes systematically on IOS5.
I delted the app from my iPad and reloaded it.
Same thing happenend over and over again.
The bug is known and ‘they’ are working on it, the solution will be there in a few days.
You don’t loose you blog because it is on the server of WordPress and automatically Blogpress retrieves it from there.
    Patience my friend,
    Cheers,
    Max

Hi there, I had the same problem, but deleting it and reinstalling won’t help. I’ve just looked at the app store entry and apparently they are aware of the fault. They have created a fix & submitted it to the app store. It is due for review so I don’t I know how long it will take to update :(

Thank you both for your responses! I’ve been so paranoid so I’ve just been sitting tight. Let’s hope that the new version is updated soon!

It’s been over a week now. I think I’m going to go into BlogPress withdrawal! I caved and posted another new entry using the WordPress application, but I just don’t enjoy the process as much as BlogPress. It’s mostly image handling that irks me.

I have had several instances where blogpress just crashed when saving a draft or publishing my latest entry, completely wiping it out in the process. I end up having to remove and reinstall the app, which is not productive. I prefer the image handling by blogpress over the official WP app as well, but for now I’m sticking to the official WP app until they get their stuff together.

I’ve sent BlogPress an email, but there’s been no response so far. This doesn’t feel very professional for a paid-for application.

  7. Pam Thompson says:

Same problem here. I have also left feedback on the developer’s website – twice, in fact – but also received no response. I agree, pretty poor for a paid app, especially one that came so highly recommended.

suffering same problem. according to the app store info, they say they already fixed the bug and submit to app store. now apple is reviewing and must come soon.

  9. The note on the developer’s Apple Store entry does say that the fix was submitted to Apple – but that was about 7 weeks ago. I’m not holding out a lot of hope….

  10. pange says:

It’s very discouraging! I’m beginning to wonder if the fix was submitted at all…

Just deleted the app from my iPad, after losing a lot of work to the BlogPress bug. Absolute rubbish.

Omg, me too! Mine has actually been working just fine since updating, until today. I was able to type up a post yesterday, load pictures, and save it locally like normal. But this morning I go to publish and blogpress won’t even open! I reset my iPad, twice and same thing. The furthest I got was turning the iPad to portrait orientation and the app would open to a blank post entry, but as soon as I hit manage, CRASH.

I’ve been thinking about trying out blogsy for a while, but I’ve been cheap. I think that ends today! If only you could ask for a refund from crappy apps.

Now 16 December and I am still having exactly the same problem. Oh what to do? Seems a shame that all we can do is complain.

  14. Khurt says:

I’ve ended up here just after installing BlogPress and creating a few posts. The app opens to the editor screen but crashes soon after hitting the Mnage tab. I’ve left a note for the developer but after reading this I have little hope for a swift resolution.
